The hostel

A house with a courtyard in central San Gil

In the hostel's own words, Real Dream combines "the charm of colonial architecture with the peace you need". Its heart is the courtyard: a skylight, timber beams, hammocks, plants and tables for breakfast.

The mural

Hand-painted butterflies

One courtyard wall is covered in a mural of blue and orange butterflies, flowers and vines, next to a window with timber shutters. The butterfly that flies across this website comes from that wall.

On Instagram, the hostel sums it up like this: "A smile from our guests means we're giving our best so they feel at home."

Hammocks, games and conversation

Colourful hammocks hung from the beams, wicker chairs, board games and books: the social area is for resting between adventures, swapping plans with other travellers, or doing nothing at all.

Breakfast and kitchen

American breakfast and a shared kitchen

American breakfast is available, and the hostel's own photos show it served in the courtyard and the dining area. On Booking.com and Hostelworld it's paid separately; if you book directly, ask whether your rate includes it. Hostelworld and Booking.com also list a shared kitchen for guests.
